Our Vision
Every community in Wyoming can grow its own food.
Who we are: Rooted in Wyoming formed in 2016 as a result of the community’s desire to promote local foods, nutrition, and sustainability.
Rooted is collaborative. Our educational programs connect people through gardens, cooking, and enjoying food.
We are guided by the cultures and history of this place, by science, and the awesome power of our environment.
Rooted is dedicated to building and nurturing school and community gardens, and local food projects across Wyoming.
Rooted in Wyoming is a registered 501c-3 non-profit organization managed by a board of directors consisting of community members.
The Founder
Bonnie Gregory
Bonnie is a fifth-generation Wyomingite whose deep-rooted connection to her community, local food, and state inspired her to found Rooted in Wyoming in 2016. Motivated to provide people of all ages with hands-on education about nutrition and self-sufficiency, Bonnie envisioned gardens as living classrooms where students and adults could learn about growing and preparing fresh food. Drawing from her family’s traditions of self-reliance and her own experiences as a mother and project manager, she brought together a passionate group of educators, parents, and community members to found the organization.
Under Bonnie’s vision and leadership, Rooted flourished, establishing partnerships with schools and community organizations to create gardens that serve as educational and nutritional resources. Her commitment to fostering community resilience and promoting local food systems will impact Sheridan County and beyond for many years to come. Bonnie is honored to have been part of the evolution and is excited to see how Rooted continues to grow.
