Volunteer Opportunities

Rooted in Wyoming has multiple options for you to volunteer your time and talent with the community. We do not view our volunteers as ‘free labor’. Volunteering is a selfless act that we take seriously. When you volunteer, you have the ability to see parts of your community that you may not otherwise be able to see and you can make lifelong connections with the people you meet. So check out the current volunteer opportunities and sign up today!

  • Every Spring season during the school year, Rooted in Wyoming delivers engaging and impactful education classes to students in Sheridan County School Districts. These classes teach students the important of soils and worms before having students start hundreds of plants via seed.

Every one has a place in helping deliver these memorable sessions to students at the SCSD#2 5th Street Greenhouse.

We need volunteers to help guide students during the independent hands-on activities, clean up in between sessions, and for those willing, teach segments of the classes in a memorable way.

If you would like to be a part of some truly inspiring classes then sign up to volunteer and let us know you want to help with Garden-to-Cafeteria Seed Starting classes!

  • Volunteers are needed year-round to help harvest fresh greens from the hydroponic beds at the 5th Street Greenhouse in Sheridan. All of the produce that is harvested is delivered to Sheridan County School District 2 school cafeterias and food pantries outside of the school year.

This weekly activity is great for all ages, work group volunteers, and is a fun social activity! Whether you volunteer each week, once a month, or once a year, you are welcome! Sign up to volunteer and check the box for Lettuce Harvesting and we will get you connected.

  • Rooted in Wyoming’s Teaching Garden will be moving to it’s permanent new home at the Bridges campus. Our Teaching Garden is used for community summer camps and to grow produce for our local community. We need volunteers to help empty the beds of soil, disassemble and reassemble the beds.

Currently this work day is planned for late-April to early-May. More information will be communicated to volunteers. Gloves and tools are provided to those who do not have their own to bring to this work day.

Sign up to volunteer and we will keep you up-to-date with this opportunity.

“Volunteering with Rooted in Wyoming has been a wonderful learning experience for us! It was a great way to meet new people, learn about hydroponics, and get involved in the Sheridan community.”
